"Our marriage was wonderful and diametrically grew stronger as her condition rapidly worsened," wrote Patrick Clancy, her husband, in a statement shared on Jan. 28, 2023. He added, "I took as much pride in being her husband as I did in being a father and felt persistently lucky to have her in my life."

Defense Strategy and Mental Health

Clancy’s legal team is preparing to argue an insanity defense, as reported by ABC Boston affiliate WCVB-TV. Her attorney, Kevin Reddington, claimed during a 2023 court hearing that the killings were not premeditated but resulted from her mental illness. He noted she had previously expressed suicidal thoughts and spent five days in a mental health facility in early January.

Prosecution's Evidence

Prosecutors revealed that on the day of the incident, Clancy took a child to the pediatrician and built a snowman with her other two children in the backyard. Later, she placed a restaurant order for pickup before asking her husband to fetch the meal. These actions, they argued, demonstrated her normal behavior despite the tragic outcome.
