Netanyahu Declines Trump’s Board of Peace Proposal Pending Full Hamas Disarmament

Tyunews.com – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday that his government would turn down a fifteen-point peace framework advanced by President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace. Addressing cabinet members at the beginning of a Sunday session, Netanyahu declared in Hebrew that Israel would not accept the document while Hamas retains its military capabilities.

“Israel rejects the 15-point document,” Netanyahu stated. “The IDF will not make any withdrawal until Hamas is truly disarmed and will continue to thwart threats against our forces and citizens.”

Background on the Peace Framework

The proposed agreement emerged from broader U.S.-brokered efforts initiated last year. In July, Trump unveiled an arrangement requiring Hamas to surrender its weapons while the Israel Defense Forces would pull back from the Gaza Strip. The president characterized the deal as essential progress toward establishing a new Palestinian administration that would collaborate with the Board of Peace.

“This agreement is a critical step towards Gaza finally being governed by a new Palestinian government that will work closely with the Board of Peace to help the Palestinian people,” Trump wrote on social media on July 30.

The multinational organization, created by the U.S. president, oversees implementation of a twenty-point peace initiative originally announced in September. Trump emphasized that Israel would gain the security guarantees it requires, with Gaza no longer serving as a launching point for terrorist operations.

“At the same time, Israel will have the security it deserves, with Gaza no longer used as a base for terror attacks,” Trump added.

Key Elements of the Comprehensive Plan

Trump’s twenty-point framework produced a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas alongside the exchange of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners. The proposal mandates that Hamas hand over its armaments and dismantle military infrastructure, including an extensive tunnel system. In exchange, Hamas would transfer authority to a technocratic Palestinian administration while Israel withdraws troops, delivers humanitarian assistance, and supports international reconstruction efforts for the devastated territory.

Hamas Responds to Israeli Position

Following Netanyahu’s comments, Hamas issued a statement affirming its dedication to the fifteen-point plan for the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire. The group called for mediators and guarantors to fulfill their obligations and prevent violations that might derail implementation.

“We call upon the mediators, guarantors, and the Peace Council to assume their responsibilities, ensure the commitment of all parties to what has been agreed upon, and prevent any violations or breaches that could disrupt the implementation process or undermine the ceasefire agreement,” Hamas stated.

The organization pledged to maintain constructive engagement with efforts to complete the agreement. Earlier in July, Hamas announced it had dissolved its governing body in the strip, replacing it with the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza as part of phase two preparations.

Netanyahu’s Firm Stance on Security

Netanyahu reiterated his position regarding Palestinian statehood during his Sunday remarks. He emphasized that disarmament must be comprehensive and genuine, not merely symbolic.

“Regarding the Gaza Strip: First of all, I want to clarify the main thing. As long as I am prime minister, there will be no Palestinian state, neither in Gaza nor in Judea and Samaria,” Netanyahu said.

“The IDF will not make any withdrawal until Hamas disarms. And when I say disarming Hamas, I mean the heavy weapons, the less heavy weapons, all the weapons. And we are talking about real disarmament, not fictitious disarmament,” he continued.

While praising Trump as “our greatest friend in the White House,” Netanyahu acknowledged that discussions with American officials involve both acceptable and unacceptable proposals. He stressed Israel’s willingness to maintain its position even with close allies when security interests demand it.

“Contrary to all those who preach to us, we do what needs to be done for the security of Israel and we can and know how to stand our ground even against our best friends when necessary,” Netanyahu said.

“The existence of Israel and the security of all Israeli citizens is non-negotiable. We stand firm on these interests,” he concluded.
