Russian Missile and Drone Strikes Injure 11 in Kyiv; Ukrainian Forces Target Vessels in Sea of Azov
Tyunews.com – Ukrainian authorities reported that at least 11 individuals, including a child, were injured in a series of overnight strikes by Russian missiles and drones on Kyiv. The State Emergency Service confirmed the incidents, which occurred early Saturday, citing explosions and fires in multiple districts. Solomianskyi district saw a strike that ignited a fire in a three-story building housing an office and warehouse, while another warehouse in Dniprovskyi district caught fire after being hit.
Ukrainian Counterattack on Russian Vessels
Separately, Ukrainian forces launched an operation targeting Russian naval assets in the Sea of Azov, damaging 21 oil tankers and other vessels. According to Ukraine’s General Staff, four tugboats, two cargo ships, and a dredging vessel were also struck. These ships were used for military logistics, the statement noted. Russian officials, however, claimed only four vessels were attacked, including one transporting methanol, and that the damage was minimal.
“Russia launched 12 missiles, including six ballistic ones, and 121 drones overnight. Most of the drones and some missiles were shot down, but none of the ballistic missiles were intercepted,” stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Air Force reported direct hits at 11 locations from ballistic missiles, two guided air-to-surface missiles, and seven attack drones. Falling debris from intercepted weapons was noted at three additional sites. Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry asserted that its forces had targeted drone production facilities in Kyiv, as well as the ports of Izmail and Chornomorsk in Ukraine’s Odesa region.
“Russian air defenses destroyed 178 Ukrainian drones overnight, across eight regions, the Crimean Peninsula, and the Black and Azov seas,” added the ministry.
