Arrest Made Following Late Afternoon Attack

Chico Police Chief Billy Aldridge confirmed during a Monday news conference that officers captured the suspect as he exited the library through the rear. The suspect, identified as Bradley Scott Sayer, is currently being held in the Butte County Jail on charges of murder. His motive appears to have been a desire to replicate the Columbine-style attack, as he did not recognize the victims, officials stated.
“The incident this evening was obviously very sad, traumatic for a lot of people,” Aldridge said. “Very traumatic for our community.”
